Mercedes E350 4matic Facts in Answers
How is the Mercedes-Benz E350 4Matic reliability? I am looking into a 2006 Mercedes E350 4Matic sedan. It is very lovely, and if I were to purchase it, it would be my first Mercedes-Benz so far. I do not know much about their reliability, but I have heard multiple sources on that matter vary. So, are they reliable?

David B replied: "I do not own a 2006 E-Class, so I cannot speak with first-hand knowledge. However, you might check out the consumer reviews over at edmunds.com. A number of reviewers have had significant problems with their 2006 E-Class cars. Also, I was reading the 2009 Consumer Reports book while waiting for my wife at the checkout today, and much to my surprise, many of the late-model Mercedes Benz cars had "much worse than average" reliability ratings. I don't remember the specifics of the 2006 E-Class, but it might be worth a trip to your local bookstore. I would also recommend running a check on the car over at carfax.com. In fact, if you are actively shopping for a used car, get their 10-search or unlimited-search package. You will find out if the car has been in any accidents, and you can oftentimes get a partial service record as well. This was a big help to me when I was shopping for a car last year. Keep in mind too that even if a car is not particularly reliable, if you don't plan to put a lot of miles on it and don't depend on it to get you to work every day, you might still have a positive ownership experience. A lot of people here in Palm Beach really love their Mercedes and only put a few thousand miles a year on them, so it works for them. They are indeed beautiful cars. Good luck with your decision."

Which tires do you think for my 2006 Mercedes E350 4matic? What tires do you suggest? I am looking for the smoothest ride possible. My car came with Continental tires which I like a lot but am open to suggestion. Right now I am looking at a set of 4 Toyo Proxes 4 245/45 ZR17 99W RF All Season Thanks

juventus_ar replied: "Definitly go for the all season Toyo like you said or Michilen or Goodyear all seasons"

swimmergrl980 replied: "Go 2 ur car guy. or ask ur dog which ever suits u"

Mel replied: "Try Michelin all season think you will like them."

king of bling replied: "Ha. If your into performance. Get pirelli's. the stuff they use on super cars"

??? replied: "Ask the dealership."

A 2006 Mercedes-Benz E350 4Matic or a 2004 Audi A8L AWD? Am looking into either. Which one would be a better choice?

RallyF1 replied: "if gas prices are not an issue i would go with audi. every body owns a merc these days. as for built quality audi is better."

NorCalGuy replied: "I would personally get the Benz only because the A8L is a HUGE car and unless you live in the suburbs where there is a lot of space, or being chauffeured, the midsize Benz is all the car you would ever need. Also, these cars are on totally different levels, the A8L is S class territory, which the two are very similar in luxury and panache. I like the ride and power of the E class, but I would personally get an A6 quattro if you ever considered it. The glitz and status of a Benz doesn't appeal to me, though it is a fine automobile. Audi is just as brilliantly engineered as BMW and Merc, but done so in a more subdued way :)"

C7S replied: "Audi A8 is bigger, more luxurious, more powerful, and AWD. It competes with the Mercedes S class. The E class competes with the Audi A6 so it is smaller, less powerful, has a 6 cylinder engine, less luxury and comfort."

Beautiful 1 replied: "Audi A8L FOR SURE!!!!! I've own both makes and the Audi are built way better and are more reliable.. Just make sure you get an extended warranty on whatever car you buy! The A8L is a top tier luxo liner that can run with the best sports sedans and cruise with cars like Maserati Quattroporte, Continental Flying Spur. Benz S, Lexus LS 460L .. Also in many head to head comparisons the A8 out performed these autos."

2009 Mercedes-Benz E350 4MATIC Wagon? I was wondering if this car has any form of ventilation for the third row passengers? I can't find any Information about it on their website... Do you know? hey dumbass- the E350 wagon comes with a rear facing third row seat... gah- do some research before you waste your time answering a question wrong.

Laith A replied: "this kind (E350) does not have a third row passengers but if you mean R class this one has a third row with ventilation."

Mercedes-Benz E350 4Matic? Was looking at this particular model. May any current or previous owners explain their time with this automobile?

doug0102 replied: "When I was looking to buy an E-class, I asked my Mercedes mechanic about 4Matics. I know this mechanic for 20 years and trust him completely. He said that if you really need a 4Matic (you drive in a snow or something like that) than, sure, buy it. But if you do not really need it, stay away from them because it's just one more thing that might go wrong with the car. Since I live in Southern California, I got a regular one, not a 4Matic, and I'm very happy with it."

Dani G replied: "I have a regular rear-wheel drive C320 wagon. Let me tell you, this car is a pig in the snow. As soon as the lease is up, the only other MB I will consider will be a 4Matic. Every mechanic I've ever spoken to, not just for MB, is wary of all-wheel-drive. It is true that if something does go wrong it can be very pricy to repair. It is also true that Volvo, for example, did experience problems with their early Cross-country models. But the fact is that MB has not had problems with the 4Matic system. It's a good, reliable system. That's for the 4Matic. now let's talk about what does go wrong with MB: the electonics. The car never stops running and running well. BUT, on any given day I may find that the car tries to misadjust the mirrors for me, even though they are on a memory setting and already perfectly adjusted, or it may be that my window will stop halfway when closing requiring a 2nd tug on the switch to finish closing. And monday I have to take it back to the dealer where they will keep it for 3 WEEKS (!) to address a problem with some rust. Scheiße !"

James P replied: "i have the C300 4matic and a E320 without the 4matic. I live in NYC and the snow here isn't as bad as say Colorado. Having experiencing both with and without the 4matic i would never buy a car without a 4matic again, it makes you feel so much more in control even in the rain. It is well worth the extra money they charge for it."

how many classes are there for the Mercedes Benz 4matic series? ex: e350 4matic

Larry Z replied: "C-Class,E-Class,S-Class,GL-Glass,G-Wagen,S-Class,ML-Class,R-Class"

If I am driving through the Rockies, do I have to have snow chains even though I have all wheel drive? 2008 Mercedes E350 4Matic. I driving from Chicago to Los Angeles. In some parts of the Rocky Mountains, do they require chains on tires for vehicles driving through?

Eric B replied: "In most states, the "snow chains required" designation is satisfied by having AWD and appropriate M+S-rated tires. But, at an officer's discretion, you may still be disallowed to travel in poor conditions if that officer decides to require chains on your vehicle. It's best to have them - just in case."

golden rider replied: "Sometimes and if I were you I would have them in the vehicle so if the state patrol stops you you can put them on."

Robbie N replied: "Yes, when I drove through the mountain passes on a regular bases I had to keep a set of chains in my trunk. When they start the road closure process the first step is no one without chains. Then no one who doesn't have them installed and finally, completely closed, no one gets through. Get the chains, 4WD will help go, but does nothing to stop or turn. Chains may save your life. You don't want to risk that, do you?"
