RDF replied: "They're ok I suppose. Have a look at this website:& You can trust this site."

Ms Mat Urity replied: "Don't know about the Almera but I had an ancient Nissan Micra and it was amazing!"

DENIS C replied: "I work for the largest car auctions, yes' its a good car better still a Nissan micra it will go on and on and on"

Nissan almera 2 ltr diesel GX 5 door hatch 1998 model? hello. looking for advice on this motor as to the good points and bad also the main rust areas to look out for. as just got it today seems a great little car for run around. thanks all.-x

Huge replied: "As with most cars check the wheel arches - on the inside under the car because thats the place most cars go first. Also on the bottom sill under the doors. Nissans are pretty good so as long as it has not had any damage repaired badly you will be okay."

J G replied: "I find this site quite handy; &"

gsf1200 replied: "Hi there, I have been around these for years and they have good and bad points. They suffer really badly with corrosion underneath, the sumps corrode heavily as do the front cross members and the sills. The accelerator pedal assembly's fail and they need to be replaced which the last time I looked cost around £250. The fuel pumps suffer if the fuel filters have not been changed at the correct intervals and the small filter on the fuel pump clogs and causes all sorts of problems. Hope this helps."

DAVID S replied: "It's Japanese so it's reliable, but just lacks the power."

Afrowoman replied: "I have one...It's not bad ...but I wouldn't get another."

chunky replied: "not a bad car, some suffer with noisey timing chains so make sure engine sounds healthy."

mister_mechanic2003 replied: "very slow for a 1.5 when compared to other cars on the market"

Where are the fuel filter locations on Nissans? Anyone know where the fuel filters are on a 2001 Nissan Micra and a 2002 Nissan Almera 1.8 Sports Hatch. Please only answer if you know for sure. Found the micra filter where you said Skiffy, just gotta find the Almera filter which I suspect is in the tank!

jumbobret replied: "In the gas tank. jb"

Skiiffy replied: "Nissan Micra - A big silver inline fuel filter is situated in the engine compartment up by the passengers side by the windscreen wiper motor. It has it's own clip. If you buy a replacement item and look in the engine compartment you'll see it straight away. The clips are fiddly and you need a good tug to pull it off the rubber hoses but it fits very easy. The Almera filter is bigger than the micra and again it's at the back with exactly the same pipelines as the micra"
