Pcv Hose Ford Facts in Questions
98 ford escort lx pcv hose broken? so my escort recently had the check engine light come on. got the code. but as i was looking at the engine for all the possible problems(hose leaks, etc.) i found that my pcv valve hose was broken. now anyone that has this car or similar will know that the hoses are in 2 parts. theres the top part that goes to the skinny side of the pcv valve then theres the big round end of the pcv valve. well the original hose was big and went around the entire pcv valve then narrowed at the end and formed a hose which then connected to the 2nd half of the pcv hose system. well that bottom part is broken. so now i go looking for pcv valves but i notice they are just the silver valves not the entire black hose that went around the big bottom part of the pcv valve. that part tore and now im wondering how i go about getting a new bottom hose part. will i be able to find that at the store? long story short i need a hose that wraps around the whole bottom half of the pcv valve then narrows to connect.

omnisource replied: "Go to a local pick-your-part junkyard and chances are you'll find the exact hose you need. Prolly pay less than $5 for it, as opposed to having to special-order it for a whole lot more dough."

Handyman replied: "I understand what you are talking about ,You have the 2.0L engine. I believe you can get that part at the auto parts store. If not then duct tape will work until you can get a new one."

How can I repair or replace the rubber elbow segment of hose leading to the pcv valve on my 2003 Ford ZX2? It is a 2.0 engine. The elbow segment is cracked, nothing else.

CARL G H replied: "take the piece down to autozone and have them match it up size wize and just replace the entire hose with Rubber. Ford used that plastic crap but it cracks with age and thats what you have to do or spend a fortune and order the line from Ford dirrectly"

Bryan G replied: "take the bad one out and put the new one, or just call the mechanic"

Roy Dunkijacobsnolten replied: "stay away from mechanic, the part is only a couple of bucks, he will charge you labor,"

My 1992 Ford Taurus ..... I just discovered that a small diameter hose that goes to the PCV valve ...is cut ? on the other end..... but I can't find out where it goes. It goes somewhere near the air intake. There are two hoses coming off the PCV valve and this is the smaller one. Is there a site online to see a clear diagram of my 6 cyl engine ?? 3.0

LeAnne replied: "The hose to the PCV valve goes to the intake manifold."

Robert M replied: "Go to a Ford dealer parking lot, or find someone that has your identical year and model car, and look under the hood. The attachment point should be obvious. Sometimes the small hose runs to the MAP sensor (manifold absolute pressure). Someone in your area will probably have a car like yours to compare with. Good Luck!!"

Why is there a hose coming out of my brake resevoir and coneecting to my PCV? My engine is a 66 Ford LTD 6.4. There is this hose that comes out of the top of my brake resivoir and connects to my PCV. What exactly is this for?

desjr1967 replied: "That's your vacumn hose. Your brake booster operates on vacumn."

rotus replied: "Is it coming out of the reseviour of the booster (large round thing behind the res and master cylinder). If that's it, it's the vacuum hose that works the booster."

Lab replied: "It is called a brake booster and works by vacuum. It is not connected to the PCV but to the intake manifold (that is where the highest vacuum is) Have you ever tried to stop a car with the engine NOT running? Very hard, isn't it."

pcv valve hose connection? i just put a new pcv valve on my 95 ford windstar (3.8) and i noticed the hose that connects to the pcv valve was just hanging there and not plugged in anywhere. it looks like it was inserted somewhere cause oil was on it and there it a lip on it. i cant find a hole or location to put it into and i dont wanna drive it with a hole somewhere in the manifold. any idea where it should go or how i can find out?

dale b replied: "It usually goes from the valve cover to somewhere on the intake side of the motor...look around the air filter area and follow it toward the motor. PCV stands for positive crankcase ventilation, and it gives your motor a chance to re-burn noxious fumes."

replace pcv valve on 2002 ford explorer? My 4.0 L V6 2002 Ford Explorer has this plastic casing on top of the intake manifold...some of the hoses (brake booster, etc) are actually connected to the plastic casing, now how can i replace my pcv valve? autozone doesnt do ford

bobweb replied: "Try locating it through"

Tekkaman Saber replied: "The PCV Valve is not connected to your brake booster. If it were, engine oil and other debris would be pulled into the booster diaphragm and contaminate it and destroy it. Your PCV Valve is located on one of your Valve Covers. The Valve Covers are the long metal "lids" that run the full length of your engine on either side. Normally your oil cap is also located on one of the covers so you can fill your engine with oil when needed. The part that you are looking for is normally made of plastic or metal, and it is seated in a rubber grommet in one of the valve covers. You will normally find a single rubber hose coming from it leading to either your air cleaner or a port on the intake plumbing. Normally located before the throttle body. The PCV Valve itself, is a cylindrical object that is normally about 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch round and about an inch to 1.5 inches tall with a single, (sometimes double) port at the top. There is an object on your intake manifold, and sometimes also located below your throttle body, that does look like a PVC Valve. But its not. Its a simple vacuum port connector for access to manifold vacuum to operate things like your brake booster, and some of the emission control devices. I hope that helps you out. Good Luck!"

2000 Ford Escort ZX2 (2.0 dohc) PCV valve help. I'm so lost!? For the LIFE of me I can't find where the PCV valve hose connects to the main vacuum. Maybe if you have AllData access you can send me a diagram :) You don't know HOW much I'd appreciate it. Here's the problem: Doing a routine check, I noticed there's oil in my air filter. Googled the problem, most said it's probably a PCV valve issue. I find my PCV valve and the hose connected to it is completely broken off, just a stub of rubber. There's no other rubber hose piece dangling anywhere. So i'm going to buy a new hose for it but not until I can figure out where it connects to on the vacuum! Really, I have looked EVERYWHERE I can see. I can't find a diagram that's up-to-date, and I'm not about to buy a manual. I don't know if this PCV thing is the real reason there's oil in the filter, but I need to fix that before I'll be able to tell. I can post pics if that helps, though I don't know how it would. yes, there are 2. I see the one on top that connects right to the air filter... no visible problems there. the other one is the problem. i know what the intake manifold is (kind of) and where (kind of). but i don't know where the hose connects on it... and there's more than just a little oil. filter's not saturated, but there's definitely a significant amount. i have a pic of the two valves, any other pics you need? >
ford crazy replied: "well it depends on how many pcv valves u got,im not for sure how many they have on there.if im not mistaken u should have 2.one is on top of the motor that connects to the intake manifold, and another one that runs from the top of the motor to the airfilter.but u having some oil on the filter is normal.some pics would be nice to help give u a more accurate answer."

I need info about vacuum hoses for a 1988 Ford Thunderbird? I seem to be having a problem getting this 1988 Ford Thunderbird to pass the emmissions test. This is a 3.8 V6. I know there is a hose that comes off the back of the intake to the pcv valve, I have a small vaccum tube that comes out of that tube I have plugged for now its not passing echeck I was wandering if anyone out there knew what this tube was and where it went to and if this one tube would stop it from passing the echeck?

My 99' Ford Expedition is burning about a quart of oil a week, any opinions why? I also have replaced pcv hose and im still getting service engine light with a code 401 "insufficient air flow" ???

King of the Campground replied: "leak in the head gasket"

lipzkie replied: "take it to a close auto repair shop near you. is that make sense? hehehe.lol."

talon699 replied: "Did you check / replace the air filter yet? Generally that is the only thing that can cause that problem. It should be replaced at least once a year in normal conditions"

T-Bone replied: "Quart a week? How many miles? Check your air cleaner and all tubing leading to it and the fit err. If it's burning a quart every tree to five hundred miles. You have bigger problems than air flow. The air flow code is probably a bi-product of the oil problem."

bandit_60 replied: "about a quart a week you say? it could be valve seals or you have a oil leak."

Where is the PCV Valve on a 98 Ford Explorer 4.0 Liter SOHV? I have looked everywhere... every square inch on the valve cover. I don't even see a hose. There is a hose going from the valve cover to the engine air intake but there's no PCV Valve there. I have search and searched...

Greg M replied: "The valve is located behind the upper intake on the passenger side I'm pretty sure that it even has a plastic locking clip that attaches to the upper intake to hold the pcv line in place. So on passenger side behind the upper intake you should be able to see it or at least follow the short hose and see it."
