♪♫ Seattle ♫♪ replied: "Hi Mike...it would be more helpful to know the size of your tires in order to know what size chains would be appropriate since some people change the stock tire size on their vehicles. However, you can go to the following websites to search which chain would fit:"

What size of tires and rim can I get for my Nissan Xterra SE 2005 without making changes to it? Well I am on vacation right now. So is there another way of finding out. I looked in the manual but no answer on upgrading.

claymorerc replied: "my brother's had 18 inch but im not for sure if its standard"

John Paul replied: "I have seen 20's but the stock LE maxima has 18" wheels. My thoughts are keep it like the engineers designed it heavier taller tires will cause more drag and fuel economy will go down."

Will these tires fit on my 05 Nissan Xterra SE? HI! i have an 05 nissan xterra SE model that came with tires size 265 65 17. I an interested in purchasing tires that are 265 70 17. Will they fit ok? i understand they may rub or hit the wheel well if i go over a bump? Thanks in advance

tiresgalore replied: "It should not be a problem. You're only talking about a quarter of an inch in height difference. As long as you have that much clearance now between your front bumper and inside wheel well, you should be a-ok."

Can I use a slightly different aspect ratio in tire size? Can I use a tire with slightly different aspect ratio than OEM? My Nissan Xterra OEM is a 255/65/16. Can I Use a 255/70/16 as a replacement?

51 replied: "go to tirerack .com for some more info that tire combo will be fine the side wall diff. will be minimal At the tire rack you can pull up your tires specs which will show you the overall dia. of the tire and you can compare them"

John Paul replied: "Yes you can however the sidewall being taller may cause some handling differences. Engineers spent a long time comming up with the correct tire wheel combinations for Nissan Cars / Trucks. I think if you use a quality tire name brand you will be ok."

msgtpepper replied: "Yes you can,the tire will be 5% of 255 larger. 255 is in MM,65 or 70 is a percentage, and 16 is in inches. I'm not sure who thought up this formula, possibly our uncle sam at DOT. To put inches and MM in one equasion seams Goverenmental."

UCANTCME replied: "YOU CAN USE ANY OF THE FOLLOWING WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. 245/75-16 255/65-16 275/70-16 285/65-16"

Country Boy replied: "Here's what I would do. Go to tirerack.com and open your brand (they sell18) and open the tire that you like the best. Go to the specification heading of the tire. At the far left you will see RPM. In tire language that means revolutions per mile. Select the exact size tire that's on your car. Jot down the RPM of that tire. Pick the new size you have chosen (255 / 70 / 16). jot down the RPM of the tire. Compare the two numbers. Generally speaking if you can find a tire that rolls 10-15 less miles per hour (larger circumference tire) it will effect your speedometer 1-2 miles per hour. Remember the larger circumference tire will roll less RPM's because of the larger circumference. In any event keep the tire RPM as close as possible to your original sized tires"

What tire size should i buy? I own a 2003 Nissan Xterra and i dont like the tires cuz their thin so i decided to upgrade them to some 20 inch rims.. My stock rims are 16x7 and my new rims are 20x9 with a +35 offset ....(the new rims will stick out a lil bit) My stock tires are 275/70/16r I want my tires to look a lil bit more wider then the stock ones and since i just bought those new rims what size of tire do u think i should get and it would fit my new rims??? Thanks

andthereyouare replied: "That's going to be a much harsher ride than your 16x7 wheels. I would go with 265/50-20 and they will be a very pricey tire over a 16-incher. Good Luck."

Maxx replied: "According to WheelMax.com recommended Tire Size for a 20x9 is: 275/45/20 and i think they know what they're talking about"

Jenn replied: "I would recommend you to keep your stock rims. I put some 18s on my 1998 Nissan Sentra and I have been having front end trouble every since."

John Paul replied: "So many Xterria people think they have a different truck than they actually have. Your Trucklet is 5 years old so put much heavier wheels and tires on it with out even repacking the front wheel bearings. And having the looseness of the drag link fixed. Now with much heavier wheels and slack in the front end parts hammer the ball joints and tie rod ends out. ANd with out readjusting the steering stops your tires will rub the front bumper at the bottom and at steering lock the tire will rub the frame and back of the front fender or mud flaps if you haven't removed them. PIMP YOUR RIDE, Bling and Xterria in the same sentence? It is a basic Sport Utility made for off road and on road. The reason Nissan sold millions of them simple strong long lasting. The 4x4 xterria hold it's own with Jeeps!!! Keep it stock and PIMP A real RIDE"

51 replied: "john paul said it when you put that type of wheel on a truck that was not designed for them you are gonna have some serious trouble we call the 20' s on a xterra snappers"

Michael M replied: "stay stock you will mess the car up by changing the dimensions"

Putting mud tires and wheels on Nissan Xterra? I want to make it look like this.... .... but I dont know what size tires or wheels to put on it and were to get them. please help

tichur replied: "Unless you want to make modifications install the same size tire and wheel that came on the Xterra or given in the owner's manual. Reputable tire dealers will advise and probably make any modifications but the warranty will probably be voided. Larger tires will have an effect on your speedometer reading...another modification. By the way, your google site shows nothing."

Is there a special rim size I need to use with mud terrain tires? I am thinking of putting mud terrain tires on my Nissan Xterra...can I mount any 6 lug (6x139.7) wheel with mud tires? (31-35) Or is there a certain width the wheel needs to be (7"-9") I also need to know if a lift kit is necessary.

indypacecar82 replied: "if your gonna run a tire size like a 31x10.5 you will need atleast a 9 inch wide rim or the tire will wear out fast also if you want a tire of 31 inches or better yes you will want to lift it or your gonna eat fenders all the time"
