Find Yaris Toyota Canada in Q&A
Is it possible to have a small trailer hitch installed on a Toyota Yaris 2008 hatchback? (Canada)? I understand the capacity of towing would be very low but, is it still possible? I looked at some info on the car using MSN auto but no data is available in regards to this matter. Thank you all for your research and knowledge.

Serlixalot replied: "Ryder and Uhaul...(rental moving truck companies) always install them on anything...good reece hitches and they are affordable at moving van rental stores..."

emiller1998 replied: "Its rated at 700 lbs. So pretty much you cant tow anything with it safely. Its just too small a car."

money replied: "say ur poor for a better price"

ACE replied: "Absolutely. Search the web for dealer invoice prices. Check several to be sure you are getting accurate info. The dealer will sell you the car for invoice because they will make money on the back end ( factory incentives, financing, etc.). Stand firm and don't budge. I'm going to repeat that because it is very important. STAND FIRM AND DON'T BUDGE. They will reluctantly give in. Don't let them talk you into an extended warranty, ever. Toyota builds cars better than anyone else in the world, and they give you a comprehensive warranty."

chucksright replied: "don't buy a Toyota Yaris. the Honda Fit is 10 times better."

Toyota Yaris 5 door... am I dreaming? Ok, on the Toyota Canada website, I could have sworn I saw a 4-door hatchback (or liftback) model... am I crazy? My previous Yaris question was met with many "it's pretty small" answers... and all the review sites list only the 3 door and sedan models. Anyone with experience of the 5-door? (My Toyota.ca link is not connecting... maybe too much fancy video and Flash) Just in case you're wondering: Canada is not in the US. We are actually an entirely independent country (theoretically) So it is possible that this car exists where I live, and not in the US. I actually got on the Toyota.CA site yesterday, and yes, it exists, and looks loverly! Anyone got one and want to tell me if I should buy it? -Thanks

Candice H replied: "There is a 5 door! I've only heard good things. A detailed review can be found"

Blues Harp replied: "Yep, you're dreaming - at least in the US, there is no 5-door Yaris sold. It seems like it doesn't even exist. If you want 5 doors, buy a Scion Xa - it's a Toyota and uses the Yaris' chassis and engine and driveline (mechanically nearly identical)."

Anyone know about the Toyota Yaris? I'm looking at buying a new Yaris Hatchback - the 5 door model. I will need to tow a small U-Haul accross Canada with it. Otherwise, I will be using it for daily city driving and frequent weekend road-trips through both mountains and prairies. I wouldn't usually buy new but I hear the depreciation on Toyotas is minimal, and I like the security of a new car. Any suggestions re: new/used and whether the Yaris is good bang for the buck? Thanks!

Eric F replied: "the yaris is to new to have any data or feedback on yet. However, I know it is a front wheel drive, front wheel drive cars (namely the transmissions) don't like to tow anything, as they are not designed to. Whatever you are going to tow should be very small. Toyota's are pretty much troublefree, but they do have their problems, but of course, are hidden very well. the yaris being a first year car, I would stay away from the 2nd year version will have the bugs worked out. why not buy a toyota tacoma pickup instead? they get good mileage and have proven engines and transmissions, and can tow your trailer easily."

Saz replied: "I've had my Yaris from new (2004) it's a black T3 D4D, and is my favourite car I have ever had. He does about 65mpg, is ultra reliable and has only ever needed an oil and filter change. He hasn't lost much in terms of value, is cheap to run and cheap to insure. My model is the 3 door and the seats fold right down to give you plenty of room. It is great on the motorway as well as in town, easy to park etc, but also very stable handling. The engine will last forever. I'd give it 10/10!!"

artsy5347 replied: "The Nissan Versa, coming out July 1 is bigger, more powerful, costs less and gets almost as good fuel economy. Plus it doesn't have the cheesy interior and center mounted speedo."

autumnl78 replied: "Your not going to find a used Yaris in the states as its new here. I had been looking at a prius but when I saw the mileage a Yaris does and the price difference I am seriously looking at the Yaris. Here's some sites on it. this has the cargo and towing info if you scroll down. "

Which Deal for Toyota Yaris Sedan is Better? Im fifteen almost sixteen and getting my learner's license, my parents were looking for a sub-compact, fuel efficient, reliable yet youthful and good-looking car and we all agreed on the Toyota Yaris Sedan 2009. First Deal: Brand new BASIC Toyota Yaris Sedan 2009, Flint Mica color, for take home (all taxes and stuff are included in this price) $17 grand (I live in Canada so prices may differ). This basic model is just bare bones. A car with no AC, power windows, power locks or anything, but it is brand new, and we get to chose the color. The second deal is: Second hand Toyota Yaris Sedan 2009, Purchased in September of 2008, with only about 2100 mileage on it. It has a convenience package in it, which contains AC, power windows, power locks, an alarm system, and a few other basic things. It also contains floor mats, and snow tires for the Yaris. This car is in excellent almost brand new condition besides a one or two noticeable scratches inside. The take home price is $17.5 grand, but if we haggle and successfully bargain we can get it to $17 grand we believe. Which deal is better and why? Personally, I am aiming towards the second, but my parents are still a little double-minded.

Rob R replied: "Do you really have to ask? Go get the second one. With all the options and only 2100 miles, that's a no-brainer. Even if it's stil at $17.5 grand, run out and get it before it sells and quit screwing around and yahoo answers. The extra 500.00 is worth every penny. AND, if you ever sell it, try and sell a car with no a.c. and no options at all. You will recover every penny of the measly 500.00 when you sell it or trade it. I've seen it happen 100 times. You will screw around, trying to decide, and the car will sell. Go out and get it RIGHT NOW. Don't stop for stop lights. From your friendly Toyota Salesperson :)"

ozgurl6827 replied: "The second is a better deal. It will still be under the Toyota warranty and it's only done 2100 miles. For only $500 extra to get the extra things is more than worth it, especially if its the drive away price including tax etc. I would try to haggle it down to $17 000 and a little white lie about perhaps getting a new one for the same price wouldn't go astray...(have just bought a new car and have used this a couple of times against seedy car salesmen)."

Why is it that in Canada small cars are popular? hi, how come that in canada small cars are popular (such as the toyota echo hatchback, which is otherwise known as the 1st gen toyota yaris in other countries, which wasn't sold here in the US) than here in the US?

Super Toy Sale replied: "Because they have more brain cells."

Hoowah! replied: "Because they're cheap."

Rapid Fire replied: "Check out Canadian car prices. A car manufactured in Canada is more expensive in Canada than it is when it gets shipped to the States by about 20%. The difference is mostly made up by taxes and the car companies taking advantage of a foreign market."
